Wayne reveals how he has been voting for Coleen to do the challenges
COLEEN Rooney tackled her first Bushtucker Trial last night — after husband Wayne sparked a surge in votes by urging millions to nominate her.
She got coated in critters after the football legend, 39, issued a plea to his 62 million social media followers just hours before Saturday’s poll.
The Plymouth FC boss said he and their four sons would “love” to watch Coleen, 38, face a challenge in the Australian jungle.
Their wish came true as the public backed the Wagatha Christie sleuth and radio DJ Dean McCullough, 32, to face the Absolute Carnage trial.
Coleen said of her Bushtucker trial: “I’m excited for my boys back home to see me do something.
“Hopefully, I’m gonna do well, I’m gonna try my best.”
She had creepy crawlies and rats all over her inside a tin tumbler, but remained calm as she unscrewed stars for a camp meal.
Wimpy Dean, meanwhile — who has yelled “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here” on two other trials — screamed as he had fish guts dropped on him.
But they bagged nine out of 12 stars for camp.
It came after Wayne posted a message on his official profiles on Facebook, X and Instagram, saying: “Me and the boys would love to see her doing a trial and know she’d want to put herself to the test.
“Let’s get voting!”
Later, he joked on X: “Think I could be in trouble here.”
A source said: “Coleen has had plenty of airtime to chat all things Wayne and Wagatha but wants to get stuck into the trials and show what she’s made of.
“Wayne knows that, hence why he encouraged all his followers to vote for her — and his posts definitely impacted the vote.”
Speaking to presenter Joel Dommett on a video call for I’m A Celeb’s ITV2 spin-off Unpacked, Wayne said he has been voting for Coleen to do the challenges.
Wayne, who cannot meet Coleen when she leaves the show due to work, also revealed it’s been the longest he and his childhood sweetheart have been apart since they were kids.
And he said their boys —- Kai, 15, Klay, 11, Kit, eight, and six-year-old Cass — are missing her badly.
Away from the trial, Coleen told how she and Wayne met Donald Trump in his first term as President — and she wasn’t impressed.
She said: “When we lived in America, we were invited to the White House for Christmas, and we went in to meet Donald Trump.
“He said to my son, ‘See? Told ya, all the soccer players get the good looking girls. And I told my mum, I was like ‘dirty b*****d.’”
Meanwhile, McFly’s Danny Jones and boxing legend Barry McGuigan have been voted in as the new camp leaders.
The public backed them to replace singer Tulisa Contostavlos and Corrie’s Alan Halsall.
